My name is Carmella Alexander and I am a author of a children's story book series called Fearless, the Amazing Boy With Special Abilities. This book was written about my superhero. This superhero just happens to be my son, Amir. Amir was born with a rare epilepsy disorder called WWOX Gene Mutation, that affects only a small number of children across the world. This disease has a very poor prognosis of survival. The lifespan can be cut short as early as 2 weeks old or until the age of 12. Given this devastating news obviously weighs heavy on a parents heart. However, despite the sadness and grief I faced, I picked up my badge of honor as a parent to a beautiful special little boy. I wear it proudly! I wrote the book series to show positive representation of children with disabilities to let everyone know they are children too! They share like feelings, dreams and aspirations. They deserve a superhero who knows and lives within their story but still dares to explore the limits of their imagination.
